Challenge

In 2016, Oxford Oracle delivered an intensive training and monitoring programme for twelve medical device companies from across Asia, in a continuation with the partnership with a small business development agency.

The Oracle's Solution

Oxford Oracles programme included workshops and coaching sessions, covering areas such as marketing, business strategy, financing, innovation and intellectual property. The experts provided support, advice and guidance to each of the SMEs to diagnose key areas for growth of their business and identify short, medium and long-term actions to address them. In a continuation of our partnership with a small business development agency, the agency of the Asian government focussed on developing world-leading small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Oxford Oracle delivered an intensive training and mentoring programme for twelve medical device companies from across Asia. The week-long programme of workshops, visits and coaching sessions, culminated in each of the attending company owners delivering a focussed business pitch to a panel of programme sponsors, identifying the areas of development each SME had identified as important to the future growth of their company. The areas covered include; marketing, business strategy, user-centric design, financing, innovation, regulatory approval, and intellectual property. Throughout the programme, Oxford Oracle's expert consultants provided support, advice and, guidance to each of the SMEs, to diagnose the key areas for growth of their business, and identify short, medium and long-term actions to address them. In addition to the coaching support, the participating companies could view elements of the UK innovation ecosystem, through a packed programme of visits, and talks by external speakers. In addition, Oxford Oracle drew on its extensive network of innovative companies in the region, to deliver a Technology Showcase event, featuring short pitches from local start-ups and Oxford University spinouts. As a direct result of this event, several collaborations between companies have been taken forward.
