Challenge

In 2014, Oxford Oracle developed and delivered a two-day training programme in Europe to a selected cohort of 25 delegates for a regional government innovation agency an agency set up by the regional government whose remit is to promote innovation, investment and internationalisation in the region and beyond.

The Oracle's Solution

The key objective was to foster a more innovative and entrepreneurial culture among researchers by developing strong technology transfer knowledge and skills. The programme focused on providing the necessary business training for commercialising research. Oxford Oracle utilised their extensive experience and understanding of the needs of technology transfer to develop and deliver a two-day training programme in Europe to a selected cohort of 25 delegates, primarily research scientists, for an agency whose remit is to promote innovation, investment and internationalisation in Europe and beyond. The key objective of this workshop was to foster a more innovative and entrepreneurial culture among researchers by developing strong technology transfer knowledge and skills. The two-day programme focused on providing the necessary business training for commercialising research and involved a combination of presentations, case studies, simulations and exercises to encourage reflection and practise decision-making. The first day provided an overview of the entire technology transfer process of the University of Oxford and explored marketing approaches, license agreements and licensing strategies. The second day focused on different types of contract research agreements and the strategies and processes for creating a new spinout or corporate venture.

Consequential Impact

As a result, the beneficiaries are now better equipped in areas of technology transfer, licensing agreements and strategies and marketing approaches.
