A National Intellectual Property Office and the National Foreign Ministry in South America

Challenge

The UKs Lambert toolkit agreements designed to support research and industry collaboration has been in place since 2007 and its success has led to other countries and funding agencies producing their own Lambert styled agreements (e.g. across Europe, Ireland, the EU commission and many industry groups). An updated Lambert Toolkit was launched on 6 October 2018 by Baroness Neville-Rolfe in Edinburgh. An Intellectual Property Office (IPO) commissioned review of the Lambert Toolbox identified, amongst other recommendations, the need for international styled Lambert agreements to support collaborations between the UK and foreign universities and businesses. Key emerging economies with developing B2B and university-to-business licensing experience across Asia and South America have been identified as regions where such international Lambert-style agreements would be most beneficial.

The Oracle's Solution

The scope of the project was to deliver a series of three one-day workshops in South America in March 2020 across three major metropolitan hubs in South America. The objective of the workshops was to explain the agreements encompassed by Lambert Toolkit to invited participants from industry, academia and government who received interactive training in the use of the Toolkit.

Consequential Impact

Over 100 stakeholders attended the workshops across the country, marking a key step towards the implementation of the Lambert Toolkit in South America.
