A National Innovation Agency and an Agricultural Innovation Agency in South America

Challenge

Oxford Oracle was approached by a national innovation agency and an agricultural innovation agency in South America to work on a project that was initiated to support the development of new technologies and advanced agricultural and forestry practices. The project was funded through the UK's Newton Fund.

The Oracle's Solution

Oxford Oracle provided a workshop, arranged a visit to the UK and provided the mentors who delivered remote business support, to provide critical business foundation skills to a group of 24 young entrepreneurs. A national innovation agency and an agricultural innovation agency. Training and Mentoring programme for South American Entrepreneurs. Sep 2013-Apr 2014. This project was funded through the UK's Newton fund. Innovate UK and an agricultural innovation agency in South America initiated this project, to support the development of new technologies and advanced agricultural and forestry practices to deliver social benefits and combat the results of climate change across the nation. A two-week workshop was delivered in South America to provide critical business foundation skills to a group of 24 young entrepreneurs, with 1-to-1 mentoring to help each of them develop their own business plans. At the end of the workshop each participant gave a pitch for funding that was assessed along with the other deliverables produced. An agricultural innovation agency then selected 10 young innovators to take part in a visit to the UK, based in Oxford and Cambridge, where they were able to meet with business leaders in their industry sectors, attended conferences, and received additional mentoring support. Once they returned home, they also received several months of on-going mentoring support from our UK-based mentors, to help them achieve their business objectives. Oxford Oracle managed this project, supporting the delivery of the workshop in South America, managing the visit to the UK, and providing the mentors who delivered the remote business support.

Consequential Impact
