A European Health Innovation Network E.V. in Europe
Challenge
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (a European innovation institution) is an organisation created by the European Union in 2010 to strengthen Europes ability to innovate. The European innovation institution is an integral part of Horizon 2022, the EUs Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. A European health network is a network of best-in-class health innovators which delivers solutions to enable European citizens to live longer, healthier lives by promoting innovation.
The Oracle's Solution
Delegates from the European health innovation network and a European health network Hubs visited the Oxford Innovation Ecosystem for a 3 day visit in June/July 2021. Oxford Oracle provided training and networking opportunities for 35 European innovation professionals seeking to build capacity in unique contexts encompassing 16 different European nations. The representatives of a European health network Hubs and InnoStars programmes and their guests (including senior government officials, entrepreneurs, hospital managers, and university leaders) were provided with an intensive programme which included coverage of the following priority issues:
- Structuring, financing, and managing innovation ecosystems in a variety of international contexts
- Maintaining successful a technology transfer function throughout changing ecosystem landscapes
- University-industry collaborations; and
- The Business Model Canvas as a planning and management tool.
Consequential Impact
All participants reported (anonymously) immense satisfaction with the programme. These participants and policy makers have returned home with action plans which allow them to build on the fundamentals for creating successful ecosystems within their own nations and regions. The various partnerships initiated with Oxford Oracle during this programme actively continue to the present day. The study visit to Oxford was very illuminating. "I learned a great amount about technology and innovation transfer, and how the innovation community in Oxford works. Director, University Incubator and Regional Health Hub
